I have a favorite lens a Nikkor 28-70 f2.8D. This lens is called the forgotten lens. Yes it is old but it is extremely sharp and fast focusing. I bought it with my D3 in 2007. Nikon dropped support for this fantastic lens. Well my lens locked up and couldn’t focus closer than 15 feet. Well I didn’t want to upgrade to the 24-70 f2.8. I found Midstate camera repair in Warwick RI (45 minutes from me). Two brothers run this shop are very easy to deal with. They took my lens opened it and gave me a quote Well below the price from Nikon $100. Vice $340. and didn’t have to pay for shipping and insurance. Then in two more days I had my favorite lens back saving me $2300. Up grading to the new 24-70 F2.8 VR. Midstate will always get my non warranty business.

I have used Precision Camera for many years and have no complaint with them . I dropped my lens off at Precision camera a week before and three days later they called me and said they weren't authorized to repair this lens (to old) Nikon USA also says they won't repair it. Basically if it has an Apture ring it is to old.
