What a gem of a locomotive with great history from the Civil War.

Viewed and shot the Texas when it was at Spencer Yards, North Carolina, no too long ago. Saw it "rubbed down to its skivvies". And made a point to see it "reborn" for its trip back to Atlanta. Will have to dig out my shots.

The Spencer Yards roundhouse has several power running stock from the region for those interested in stopping by, just northeast of Charlotte, NC. (http://www.nctrans.org/)

Whoops! Time even flies on the irons! It was back in April of last year!

When you were there, was operating under its own steam power?

The Texas chugged under its own steam off the table.

The livery was its last from 1893, if I recall correctly.
