What is a good all around Lense to walk around with a d7500 that is not super expensive? I have the kit lenses but want something better. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Welcome to UHH. The lens I'd recommend is the AF-S Nikkor 18-140 f/3.3-5.6 ED (VR, DX). Good range, sharp, reasonably priced.

I like (and have) both. The 18-140mm was the lens I bought with my D7100, and is now my walk-around lens with my D7500. For low light photography at a decent price, the 35mm f/1.8 is hard to beat.

I don't know what you call super expensive. I would suggest the Nikon 28-300. It will meet just about every need you have. Add one of the new Tamron 10-24mm wide angle lenses and you won't need anything else. You might add either a 35mm or 50mm f1.8d to have a prime. Really....with those 2 or 3 lenses you would NEVER need to purchase another camera or lens.

Take a look at the Nikon 16-85mm DX f/3.5-5.6 VR AF-S lens. It's a step up from kit lenses. It's sharp, has great build quality and has one-half the distortion of Nikon's superzoom lenses. Also, it will balance well on the DX D7500 body. Full frame lenses will be unnecessarily front heavy. I use it on a D500 which has the same sensor as the D7500.

For a Dx body, the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 is hard to beat.

The "kit lenses" are no slouches. The old 18-55 that came on my D5100 takes real sharp photos.

One of the sharpest zoom lenses Nikon has is the Nikon 18-200 lens. This lens, unlike the 18-300 is lite in weight and you can carry it around all day as a walk around lens. Look what Ken Rockwell has to say about this lens. I own this lens and it delivers sharp images.

Do not buy the first version of this lens, buy the VRII version of this lens. And, you can get a great price MINT off ebay on this lens. The following is a USA model in a box, check this out.

Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

The 18-200 vr2 is a great walk around lens. You can probably get one used or refurb at good prices.

You need to ask yourself about what type of photography you wish to pursue and then select appropriate lenses. If it is macro photography the 85 and 60mm lenses are excellent for DX format. these are not bad for portraits either. If you like landscapes then the Tamron 10-24mm (the new version) is an excellent lens. If you would like to shoot nature the Sigma 100-400 or 150 -600mm contemporary lenses might be nice. As a general rule I don't like the wide range zooms as they do nothing well. Most of all consider what you like to photograph. The 18-55 mm lens is a great lens for general photography. A very nice lens in the Nikon 55-200mm for work requiring a bit of reach. It light.

Although I don't have a lot of experience with different lenses, I do own the D7500 and am very pleased with the 18-140.

I own both the 18-140 and the 18-300 (new version) lenses. They weigh about the same and they take good photos. I use the 18-300 for the extra reach.
