Maybe good for my 8-yr-old grandson.

was wondering when canon was going to enter that market. too small for my big bearpaw like hands. I like bigger heavier dslr's.

I think the mirrorless market will greatly expand. Future will tell by how much.

I think that Canon will have a sales winner with this one as there are so many Canon users that have lenses that will work on this with the optional adapter. I for one am looking forward to trying it out as a travel camera with my 15-85 lens.

Question : OK, there is a new "mirrowless" Canon out... Now, WHAT is a "mirrowless" system... My new SX40 is a "mirrowless" camara that uses another digital screen as a viewfinder...
Are these two the "one in the same" type cameras ? But I don't see a viewfinder on the new Canon...
An inquiring mind wants to know....................

Maybe this will help answer your question:

Think of this of a way to carry two bodies in a smaller space.

I shoot Canon (5D MII and 7D) and own a Sony NEX-7 for my vacation camera. I was hoping/looking forward to the Canon mirrorless camera.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to compare well to my NEX-7: size, lack of lenses, no optical view finder, no articulating display, completely menu driven.
