80D, 100-400L mk2 + 1.4III on tripod using IR remote to avoid movement from pushing shutter.
It came out great, except that the slight delay allowed him time to turn his head. He had been looking to the right.

I think they can read minds, just as the focus point gets on them they either turn, duck down into the grass or take off.
The really "mean spirited" ones take off so just the tip of the tail is still in the frame.
The ones with a sense of humor turn, bend over and give me a shot of their rear end.

Nice detailing, Jerry. Birds are notorious for not looking at you when you want them to. It is still a good shot!
