I can’t help but wonder what each of these schools learned from the Florida school shooting. Did they implement any new safety checks such as arming someone in the school; did they perhaps install a person/monitor at one main door going into and out of the school, maybe an airport screening type device, ANYTHING? Yes I do agree it should not be necessary but it seems that it is.
This shooter used a shotgun. I guess that means all shotguns will be banned now as destructive devices. The next shooter might use a single shot bolt action .22 rifle. Wh**ever is used, we should remember it isn’t the NRA who was involved in any shooting though the Left would have us believe it is all the fault of the NRA and Conservatives.
Sorry I can’t write more. I need to sight in my AR-15’s to shoot coyotes, prairie dogs and ground squirrels. All present a danger to cattle where I live.

Seriously? Are you saying that the onus is on the schools to learn from this experience? I want to keep my toys and I don't want to prove I'm a responsible gun owner so the schools will just have to learn to protect themselves. Is that what you're really saying?

Apparently you ONLY read what you wanted to read but missed the sentence saying it is a shame to have to do any of this at all. Apparently you also missed the part of, have schools done ANYTHING to lessen the chance of a shooter appearing on their grounds. Yet you, and probably the schools all across America will continue to do nothing in the hope of, This will happen in other schools but not in my school. People can’t simply expect to continue blaming the NRA and legal law abiding shooters and expect something good to happen.
Please pay attention.

I didn't miss anything. You said it was a shame. Well, that's all right then. Just so long as you think it's a shame.

As usual Frank, being the Liberal you are, you most likely have no idea of how many types of squirrels there are. I am not talking about the grey or Fox squirrels I shoot to eat. I am talking about ground squirrels that are tiny animals but who dig holes by the hundreds here in the West. Ranchers cattle or horses step in those holes and can break their legs. Prairie dogs are another common culprit in that regard. The reason for using a high capacity magazine is to shoot a few before they den up and stay in the ground for a while. You are being a wise ass OR you have no idea what you are talking about. You will also notice I said coyotes too. You haven’t lived if you haven’t seen a cow giving birth to a calf and then had a coyote run over, pull the calf from the womb and eat it. I have and will shoot every coyote I see.
Always a pleasure Frank to educate people who have no idea what they are talking about or who see life only from their narrow minded vision.

Brilliant. Normally we get into the "only people who know the correct name for parts of guns are qualified to talk about mass shootings" argument. Now we go straight into the "only people who know about squirrels are entitled to an opinion" can have a view.
One of the solutions that I heard was to add more police to each school. I think the solutions that I've heard miss the mark. What they need to do is identify and deal with marginal students BEFORE they turn deadly. Each year, every high school student should be given a mental health survey....similar to those health surveys that we take at the doctor's office about our health. Completely private, they would help identify individuals being bullied, having suicidal thoughts, angry for any reason. Coupled with poor school performance or attendance, these surveys could go a long way to identifying kids who need help....not by school counselors or educational psychologists, but by professionals trained in identifying and dealing with the kinds of problems that might present.
Anything from Lt Col North yet?

Increased Taxes could certainly fund the cost of mental health surveys for every high school student in the country; and then fund the cost of the psychiatric attention by the trained professionals needed for every student identified with suicidal thoughts, insecurities, anger, or those that feel inadequate or have been bullied.
And while all the identified potential "kinds of problems " kids are in therapy, the teachers could take a break because the classrooms would be empty.
May you should call the Secretary of Education Betsy and tell her what a great, but simple solution you have come up with. She might go for it.

Anyone can voice an opinion, rather than seem foolish I would think they would like to voice an opinion that does not label as uninformed, or just plain stupid.
