This morning I noticed very tiny dirt mounds in my yard...after "close" inspection...little green bees started pouring out and pushing dirt around...Anyone know what these are? I used a wooden match head for comparison. (these little guys were tough to focus on) I'm using a Canon T2i with a Tokina 100mm macro. (manual focus)
Looks like Green Metallic Bee - Agapostemon

Thank you for helping me learn something today. The "Hogsters" are a wealth of resources. respectfully trainspotter
Something like 97% of US native bees are ground dwellers. Most people have no idea.

Plus, many are solitary bees as well, unlike social honeybees. The males of many species have no stingers either unlike their female counterparts. I’ve got images of bees on my hand. Males of course.
I've never seen these types of bees before....i guess you learn something new every day.
