I went to the old Lowery AFB, hanger #2 to the museum here in Denver for the first time yesterday, viewing some aviation history. A neat little excursion. The lighting was horrendous to say the least, and the aircraft were all crammed against the walls making room for a robotics exhibit that never showed. I can see I will have to go back when it's properly staged. (However I will call first) Still, all in all a pretty good afternoon. A few examples of the facility.

Thanks for informing me about the museum. My first USAF flight was in the back seat of a T-33 out of Lowry.

Nice shots.

I've visited it twice in the last few years and have enjoyed it. I was stationed at Lowry for tech school(munitions specialist) in the summer of '68. Hard to recognize anything now.

I was stationed at Lowry AFB back in Spring 1968 while going to Munitions and Weapons School. (AMMO 3440th Squadron ... IYAAYAS!!!). My wife and I went back their in Summer of 2017 for the first time since then. My school was located in that same hangar and as the base had been closed for many, MANY years and developers are gonna do what developers gonna do, I recognized absolutely ZILCH of the surrounding area . Unfortunately we arrived about 1/2 hour before closing time and didn't get inside to see the exhibits. We did get a peek inside the partially opened hangar doors at a replica (I assume) of a rebel fighter from Star Wars. What did they NOT want us to know?

Yes, it's vastly different now with all the condo development on the former base. I will visit it again once they get the displays back in place.

They have some really excellent displays and I really enjoy going to some of the lectures they sponsor there as well... Thanks for sharing! This is one of three B-1As left inexistence. One was lost in a training incident. The yellow dotted line around the cockpit is the escape capsule. Only two of the B-1As had an escape capsule.

Nice shot of the B-1 James. The day I was out there it was shoved into a corner with many other planes crowded around it. I will go back when they get the place back to normal.

I enjoyed the set. I especially like the Adam 500 (photo 7); too bad it wasn't a commercial success.
