When I go out shooting, I tell myself that one good capture makes it a successful shoot. Sometimes one is all I get. Last Saturday I was fortunate and ended up with a few keepers but this one is my favorite. I felt that nature was giving me a special gift when I saw this bird. Please download to fully appreciate his beauty!

I'm glad you like him! This was shot at a rookery and he was putting on quite a show.

Wow! Carol that is the most elegant capture of the Snowy Egret that I have seen. The composition and exposure are perfect. You have not lost any of the detail in the feathers, which is hard with these white beauties. Steve Perry would be proud of this one.

How did you get him to pose like that?

Thank you, Mike. I actually got several shots of him. Someone nearby must have been challenging him because he was clearly making a statement!

Thank you, Jan! I hit it lucky on this one. It took almost no processing. Steve Perry is my hero and he definitely gives great guidance!

It was easy! I just told him the girls preferred the Snowy a couple of branches away and he decided to settle the score!

Thank you for your great comments, Mark. It was overcast so I was able to get good exposure and the Egret did his part, too. Processing was minimal on this one which is always a relief.
