Larry, Have fun. I have a question.....is that a colander on your head in this week's avatar? Happy Mother's Day to the Mom's out there. If your Mom is still with you - love her to death and spoil her. If she wasn't the world's greatest Mom - she still gave you the opportunity to live and be. If she has passed on, remember the memories and the little sayings and habits that have stuck with you" "Always wear clean underwear in case you are in an accident" (If I get in n accident my clean underwear will no longer be clean, believe me!!), "If you can't say something nice about someone, dont say it." "You can stay at the table till midnight if that is how long it will take you to eat _______________(something I didn't like). There are many starving children around the world and be glad you aren't one of them!" Thanks Mom for teaching me manners, setting the example for being hospitable to others, and for being the Mom who was always there no matter what. I don't know how many of your beautiful hankies (which I now have) were soaked from our tears - over boys, over grades, over sibling clashes, over sadness and through great joy. You were the best! And that, folks, is my Mother's Day tribute to my Mom, Minnie.

p1 - Very beautiful tribute, Pat. I lost my mom in Dec 2016, but was fortunate enough to be able to care for her for the last nine years of her life. Her apartment is still empty, and still has all her furnishing and most of her clothes...we were very close, and even now, I'm just not ready to part with most of these things.

Wonderful series of images, and the green colander becomes you.

Very cool works, Bill. I'm still kicking myself because
back in the mid '60s, our church "encouraged" us to
destroy all our popular music...I know I got rid of
over 100 45's...talk about misguided youth...sigh.

Actually, looking back, the "sad" part involves two things:
First, misguided, judgmental guidance...
Second, I could have made a fortune selling those things

That's what we need to be doing - we have several oak trees that were taken down a couple years ago that are ready to be processed.

The Calton Gaol, built in the early 1800's, was the largest in Scotland and a truly horrible place. It was demolished in 1937 and all that remains is the governor's house. I came across this old picture, ca. 1890, on FB the other day and took the shot of the governor's house this winter.

I was just playing around in Lightroom and took this innocent, inoffensive, shot of Edinburgh Castle and by clicking on "aged photo" and maxing out the dehaze feature, turned it into something straight out of "Dracula" or "Wuthering Heights"!

Pretty cool,Sue!

I know what you mean about splitting frozen wood - it really makes it easier. For big jobs, though, we have a log splitter - it really saves the body, especially on those really big pieces with knots.
