Fly on Milkweed Flowers

I started trying to get shots of bees landing on the milkweed flowers but too much blur and out of focus so I deleted them.
But several flies joined in and I got this shot.
I think my 100-400L has ambitions of being a macro lens. 80D body single frame handheld

A stunning photo, thanks for sharing. I couldn't help taking a peek, based on the description. I read it to myself. Then said it out loud. Says to myself "this can not be pretty". I was soooo wrong. THIS IS PRETTY. Plan on chasing fly's all day tomorrow :)

Outstanding image Robert. Super sharp and your 100-400L thinks it is a macro lens. Great capture and technique

Thanks
Like the song says "everything is beautiful in its own way".

I forget the name of this fly species right now, but the red eyes make great pictures. However they are one of the main reasons it is so hard to raise any Monarch cats to maturity around here. They plant eggs in the cats body and the larva then eat their way out.

Thanks very much, the lens does have a split personality. It will focus down to just under 3', I had to lean back a little to achieve focus.
