To these ole eyes, the background is the right contrast but your family members look slightly washed out. Maybe adjust for exposure on them rather than overall.

But nice family

Hey, first time ??? You did very well.. All were in focus and that counts a lot... I like the way you composed everyone... What Sarge69 was critizing will come in time as you learn your camera... Overall ? Damn good...

Tell Mom to smile............she looks like she's not quite sure what you are aiming at her. LOL

Nice family.

The composition is nice, the colors and exposition are fine.

The only suggestion would be to be at about the same ( or lower) height than your subject(s).

It seems that you are a bit high and it gives the pic a weird twist.

Otherwise, great job !

I am not a portrait photographer so take my comments with a grain of salt.
The first thing I see when I look at this is that your son is front and center and because of his size overpowers the rest of his family. I would have put him toward the back and brought the women to the front.
I would have also cropped it so more of your granddaughter was showing and not chop off Dad's arms at the elbow.
I like the triangular arrangement, I just would have put your son in the back and brought his wife and daughter to the front. Maybe Dad, son, mom daughter in the same place she is.
Just my 2 cents.
