Faux HDR created using Adobe Photoshop and Photomatix. Five exposures were created from the original RAW file using Photoshop then combined in Photomatix. It has a foreboding mood enhanced by the leading edge of a thunderstorm in the upper portion of the photograph.
Here is a link to how I created the exposures from the RAW file and merged them into an HDR:

Original photograph. The light was extremely flat due to overcast skies. Settings: f/11 1/125 sec. ISO 400 18mm. I think my lens hood combined with the wide angle caused the vignetting.
Five (5) exposures were created from the RAW file then combined with Photomatix to create the HDR version.
I really like the old twisted wood on the dock, and the sky looks much better. I've never tried this style before, but might have to try it. Thanks for sharing.
Like the composition and soft colors, your PP really brought out the details.
This is a fantastic composition and the subject is very well suited for HDR; the details in the pier, being a leading line, really pop! My only critique (IMHO) would be to bump up the highlights or whites a bit. Now it may be my monitor because even my images appear to be a little dark so if that is the case, ignore my suggestion :-)
#1 looks real good to me,#2looks blah and does nothing for me.

I'm not a fan of this type of HDR, my thoughts are that carrying out the real exposures allows the camera to 'see' more on each exposure. It's still a nice picture but do you think it just lacks a very slight 'oomph!'
As far as HDR goes, that is an awesome composition. If I had 4 thumbs, they would all be up.
