Today in California, I spoke with a homeless man and asked him how he ended up this way. He said, "Up until last week, I still had it all. I had plenty to eat, my tailor-made suits and clothes were washed and pressed. I had a roof over my head, I had HDTV and Internet, and I went to the gym, the pool, and the library. "I was working on my MBA on-line. I had no bills and no debt. I even had very expensive, but full OBAMACARE medical coverage.

I felt sorry for him, so I asked, "What happened? Drugs? Alcohol? Divorce?”

"Oh no, nothing like that," he said. "No, no.... I was paroled by ultra-liberal CA Gov. Jerry (moonbeam) Brown under the early release program."

Unfortunately this is the case of so many "street people" - some kind of criminal record that keeps them unemployed from jobs that pay enough to get them off the streets. Also there is the massive % of them who know how to and do work the "bleeding hearts" and the government systems.
Yes the use of Alcohol and drugs can lead to addiction which also can lead to mental health problems, jails, institution and death - Not Necessarily In That Order.
Getting mental health help - getting proper meds and staying on them-getting off and staying off drugs and alcohol are all personal decisions and the success rate for that is VERY VERY small.

What are you arguing? Should he still be in prison? Did you ask him what he was in for? I doubt Gov, Brown had anything to do with his release. Unless he's sitting on the parole board. Did he say he'd rather be in jail? How did he make all of that money he had??? Dealing drugs??? This is a dumb post. "I was paroled by 'ultra liberal Gov Jerry (moonbeam) Brown' " Sounds like bulls**t to me.

I don't think he literally spoke with this homeless person and had this conversation. I think that this is fairly typical with paroled criminals. The point being that in prison a person is give quite a few perks that prisoners didn't used to get. It's still an awful place to be in, but prisoners are fed, clothed, entertained somewhat, learn things if they apply themselves, exercise, etc.. Eventually some of them get out and now they have to find a job, shelter, buy clothes, food, health insurance, and try to do the right thing. Prisons are overcrowded and they are letting them out early on good behavior and/or the severity of the crime they are being punished for.

The Gov Brown part is simply that Brown feels that the solution to the prison overcrowding is simply to let them out early rather than spend more money to build and manage more prisons. He'd rather spend billions of taxpayers money on a Bullet Train to SF, make California a sanctuary state and pay for all the immigrants that come here illegally, etc.

The Gov e******n is soon and I hope that if people want change in California, that they #1, V**E, and #2 v**e for a candidate that will make the right choices.
