Weird! No, I do not own the Zuiko 45mm f1.8 I use a Sigma Art 60mm f2.8 or my Zuiko 12-40 f2.8 Pro lens but I have never experienced anything like what you are experiencing now.
Time to give Olympus a call?

Yes contacting Olympus may be in order.

I don’t see the operation as a problem, but I find it interesting that it operates that way.

I have not done the experiment with any other lenses. I plan to do that.

Yes there could be some setting that resulted in that operation. It doesn’t bother me but resetting to factory defaults would definitely bother me! Lol. No I don’t have that book and thank you for the tip!

Get a setup spreadsheet from biofos.com and record your settings. That will make it easy to restore if you need to.

Good idea!

I have saved the setup but I haven’t tested the restore function!

Using the spreadsheet, I can track what I've set in my Mysets, and also give them a descriptive name. Saving and restoring settings through software doesn't let me see (and understand) what I'm doing.

I can see where that would be useful!

Now a question, does the spreadsheet use the saved settings as input? So if I save a setting can I pull that into the spreadsheet?

Update: More experiments.

I mounted the Olympus 60mm F2.8 Macro lens. Same behavior.

I tried turning Auto EVF Level ON (I like it set to OFF so that I can see the effect of f-stop and shutter speed changes, on the exposure, real time in the EVF). Same behavior.

But then I noticed something. Looking into the lens, as I moved from a dark background behind me, to a bright background behind me, the aperture changed. I was not touching any buttons.

I think an email to Olympus may be in order or, even better a trip to Sammy's Camera in Pasadena! That will be much more fun than typing an email for a variety of reasons. ;)

No. It’s a manual process. Would be pretty cool if it could be done. If camera mfg’s published formats, third party dev’s could take advantage.

Update:
I stopped by Sammy’s Camera in Pasadena today, talked to Ed the OM-D expert. He spent quite a bit of time with it. Looking at al the settings, he concurred, odd behavior, not right. Ed asked if he could reset it. Sure I have the settings saved on my computer at home. No difference. Ed went and got his OM-D EM-5 Mii, it did not behave that way. We swapped lenses, his and mine. (He had a 25mm f1.2 lens. Yes you read that right f1.2). Anyway when swapping lenses the problem stayed with the body. My camera still did the same thing with his lens (and with several of my lenses.) And his camera worked properly with my lens. So Ed’s advice was send it back to Olympus. Great I’m scheduled to leave on vacation next week, I was planning to take the camera along on this vacation. Grrrr.

I will try re-installing the latest firmware to see if that makes a difference, before I send it back.

Update #1. I did not notice the funky behavior before doing a firmware update a couple weeks ago. Was it there all along and I didn't notice it or did the firmware update get corrupted and that is the cause of the problem? As a "Hail Mary", I tried re-installing the firmware update. Cannot do it. The firmware updater tool says "Firmware up to date". There is no option to "reinstall latest firmware". So the camera is going back to Olympus. The beauty is that I am leaving on a vacation that was planned a year ago, and I was planning to take the Olympus. In fact that is why I bought it. It is my travel camera. So now I have to decide do I take the Olympus "as is" (the images seem to be ok) and send it back after I return, or do I take my aging DMC-G1? Or gawd forbid, a ginormous DSLR. No got going to do that. Aw crap. Well the repair form gives me 3 months to send it back, so maybe I'll take the Olympus and hope for the best. The backup will be my phone camera.

I did send an email to Olympus requesting a feature update: Add "Reinstall latest firmware" option to the Olympus Firmware Update tool.
