I sold my 7D ll and I am going in a new direction. My Canon 1DX ll will arrive sometime tomorrow I am really excited about giving it a try. I need to find some flying birds or a soccer game or race to put it through it’s paces. Bab

So as my coach, when I started with him, he was using a 7d mkII, a couple months later he was clicking away a 5d S, now he’s shooting a 1dx, don’t know were I’ll stop

You might like the features you've added to your arsenal. The speed is incredible, but you need to learn how to get the most out of it. It's AF will make birds in flight more enjoyable. Low light takes on a new meaning. And, it is heavy! The manual is long and there are reasons for that. I've used the 1D-X for several years as a primary body. It will spoil you, lucky you! Have maximum fun, it's well worth the cost.

I may just go into the yard with my 70-200 or maybe go to the Lakefront Thursday morning with my 300 2.8 or 100-400. I’ll need some time to set it up and learn to use it. I am used to my 5D line and this will be different. Bab

Grammie, no doubt you’™ll fall in love the 1Dxll!!
I’ve never used a mkll but can only imagine how good it is.
Like you I was shooting with two 7Dmkll’s and last summer when the prices were getting lower on the 1Dx I bought a used one and retired the 7Dll’s. The 1Dx is so much more camera.
For action the features I use the most are the ability to rotate the camera from portrait to landscape and back, using the single focus points I assign to each and on top of that to use the light meter’s spot metering and tying it to those exact focus locations.
I rarely use multifocus points as I can use an individual focus point super fast and way more accuarately!!!
I also do a lot of my sports with a wide angle zoom.
My back up is a 5s, another monster in the Canon line-up!!!
Enjoy your new tool. As a tool, it’s what a pneumatic luge driver is to a hand operated lug wrench!!!!!
I shot these a few weeks ago!
Awesome camera!!!

That is my dream camera. I have the lowly 1D Mk IV, which I thought was a pretty awesome camera. If I were still doing the work I used to do, I'd buy the 1DX in a heartbeat.

I have had the 1Dx MkII since October 2016 and I enjoy it. I spent several months looking at different Nikon and Canon cameras and I ended up feeling that it is the best overall camera available at the time for me. It is large and heavy at times but it also helps balance out the weight of heavy lenses, even the 70-200 IS II f/2.8. Enjoy the new toy and enjoy all the things it can do. I have not even really explored the video end of its capabilities yet myself...

Best,
Todd Ferguson
