Loving my D850. Still so much to learn. Just can't get up the nerve yet to switch to the Big "M".... more out of fear that if I can't figure it out I won't know how to change it back... And hmmm, this photo looked a lot sharper in LR than it does here.... Who knows?

Is the big "M" manual mode? Manual mode can be good for tricky lighting conditions. I attended a studio photo shoot that recreated the high contrast, old Hollywood glamour look. We used fresnel lamps that created a lot of contrast in the light levels. Manual mode worked the best to keep the exposure consistent.

I’m sure that was a great experience.

Here is one of the Hollywood glamour shots. The fresnel spot lamps create really high contrast. I had to use manual mode to lock down the exposure. I tried aperture priority and spot metering but the exposures would be all over the place.

I use manual mode when using studio strobes also. I take light meter readings and enter those settings into the camera.

Your photo is really good but it looks like the window has made it less sharp than it would have been.

Your photos are superb. I especially like the concept of the second one. And yes, a messy office window is not optimal.

Thanks. You'll be making some stellar images with the D850. I remember that another photographer at one of these studio photo shoots was using his D850.

I’ve had my D850 for a couple of months now and I’m still learning it, so don’t feel bad.

I'd enjoy seeing actual product from the second shot.
