I have a 5D Mark II and I am thinking about upgrading to a
5D Mark III however it is going to cost me about $1800.00 to do that. My question is, is it worth the extra money.

Well is the life of the shutter in your camera about gone or something? Is there something that your Mark II can't do that the Mark III can and that you need? I would take these things into consideration before deciding. As far as a shutter goes it would be more cost effective I would think to replace the shutter rather than replacing the camera body.
My mark II is about 1 year old and in perfect condition however the Mark III is a better camera special the focusing part of it
Sold my Mark II for 1500.00. 2,750 accuations. Bought new for 2500.00. Bought the Mark III for 3500.00. Enjoy the Mark III much more. For me it is well worth the extra cost.
There are multiple sites that make the comparisons for you. The only real advantages I see are higher ISO and faster burst speed for continuous shooting.
If your reason for upgrading is to impress the girls, don't bother - they won't know the difference.
If shooting faster or shooting in the dark are important, then it might be worth it.
That's what I'am thinking
Thanks
I am so old that girls don't even look at me anymore
But I understand that the Focusing system is much better

What lenses do you currently have?
6 fps is better than 3.9 and higher ISO setting and less noise. There are 61 focus points instead of 9 ... 1800.00
May 22 you told us you were starting all over ... film to digital.
You are moving fast. Nice glass and a great camera and looking to upgrade already. You have not even shown us any of your work yet and you want to start upgrading? I would slow down and shoot another 50k photos with that one first. Just my opinion and you asked. lol
I agree with WildBill. A better camera will not get you better photos. Master the one you have, then you may not even want to upgrade.

Agree. Invest in better lenses.
"There are 61 focus points instead of 9" ya, we need 61 focus points. For most of my pics, I only have 1 focus point turned on, If I had 61, 60 of them would be turned off most of the time. I don't see 61 FP to be much of an advantage. In rare occasions, might come in handy.
I have read the specifications of the two cameras and the cost were I live, it is not worth it. If anything it is overpriced.

You should definitely go for it - I'll give you $500 cash money for that old worn-out husk of a piece of junk Canon - I'm making a sculpture out of outdated technology.
Just bought the MkII re-furb from Canon. Even spoke to canon tech support re II or III. With his advice and my knowledge I went for the II. One of my considerations is always - how many are on eBay and in the weeks prior to my purchase I rarely saw a II which means to me no one wants to sell the II and upgrade to the III. I also have a 7D and just sold my50D to buy the II. The biggest thing the III has is the Digic 5+. The III was an additional $1500 or so. I bought a new lens which I wanted much more instead. Unless there is a very specific reason I'd keep the II and maybe get a new lens. Again, as others have said the camera is not going to get you better photos it is the photographer who does this.
