This guy showed up on my deck this afternoon: a red breasted Grosbeak. I had never seen one before. This picture is a little hazy because it was taken through my deck slider. Needless to say I was a little excited.

Bob, I can relate to the happiness this bird brings to us through our camera's lens.

Thanks for your comment. It echos some of my thoughts of late. I realize at my age (74) I will never be a great photographer. However, I still get a rush when I manage to get a shot of something I'd been trying to get for awhile or something that pops up out of the blue like this shot. That may be what makes our hobby fun. We can enjoy it without taking ourselves too seriously. I still take take tips from fellow hoggers but I try to not let it define who I am. Enjoy your hobby.
