He (or she?) was quite a ways off but was flying right at my level on the HB Pier. A bit soft at that distance but the 70-300 has great glass and even after extreme cropping I still found it interesting.

Thanks, yes, that Pelican seems to be looking right at me. It was about 300 yds away when I got this. Used the 70-300 f4L II with it’s excellent glass. That lens never disappoints me.
