What happened? The "Camera Calibration" tab is now the "Calibration" tab. The sliders are all the same but the "Camera Profile" drop-down menu is missing. Did I miss something? Has the Camera Profile been moved or discontinued? Thanks, Bob

Moved to the 'Basic' panel I think, haven't updated yet.

A big change to Lightroom in 7.3 was enhancing the "profiles" function along with some changes in how "presets" work. There is more to it than can be easily described here. It deserves some reading or YouTube watching. As mentioned, it did move to the Basics panel.

Noteworthy is that there were some unwanted surprises in 7.3 and there was a quick replacement with 7.3.1.

As of the latest update to LR, the calibration option for a lot of the more popular cameras has been built into the calibration tab. Check out the You Tube on this by Anthony Morganti. I just found out about this after viewing one of his videos. Sorry I don't remember which one

oops a little: Actually in the latest LR (7.3.1) there is a profiles tab. It is in the Basic Panel in the Develop module in the second row of choices. It appears however to only have Adobe standard choices. I checked this against a pic taken with a Tamron 18-400 zoom and a Sigma 18-250 zoom and the only choices under the profile tab in LR 7.3.1 were the Adobe Standard variations. Maybe someone else can comment.

"the only choices under the profile tab in LR 7.3.1 were the Adobe Standard variations. "

Lens corrections are down where they used to be under "Lens Corrections".

The new version of Profiles is different. I'm not sure I understand it yet, but it has to do with the initial interpretation of the RAW camera data into something the eye can see as a picture. There is an Adobe Standard that is what was there before as a default. The new default for new RAW imports is Adobe Color. What I think is completely new is choices to match the in camera JPEG choices for your specific camera. Also new is being able to add profiles that work like video LUTs. You can borrow them, make them or buy them.

JPEGs are interpreted, processed or rendered in the camera before you ever put them on your computer. RAWs are not. Frequently people will say that some other editor is "better" than Lightroom. The display of the RAW preview is more colorful, more accurate, brighter, better, etc. I think it appears that the new "profile" system makes it so you pick how the initial interpretation is displayed on your screen.

Interesting is how the new Profiles work differently when you open JPEGs or RAWs in the Develop module. The choices presented are different.

I think it makes a lot of sense that choosing the camera profile starting point has moved to the start of the workflow (adobe recommend working down the adjustments in order). What I really can't understand is why the lens correction isn't also one of the first sections ? Does anyone know why it is still so far down the list ? I tend to apply lens correction first in my workflow.

When you updated your LR, you could have looked at the "what's new" thing that always comes with their updates and it would have shown you the new place for the Camera profiles and the additional profiles they have included.
