Excellent video. A tribute to all who serve, served-- and stood up to tyranny.
I too have a very personal connection to the Battle of the Bulge, my dad was a participant. He was a First Lieutenant, 9th Air Force, Ordnance. He never talked much about the War; he did talk about the winter of 1944 and how bitter cold it got at times. He said it was the coldest he had ever been.
We complain when the temperature gets down in the 20's, and we're wearing our fleece, down, pak boots, thermal mittens, etc.
Imagine wearing a woolen topcoat, if you could find one, GI boots that probably leaked, and clothing which remained cold and wet. Few, if any cold weather parkas, boots or gloves.
Then imagine months in those conditions.
In the HBO series, "Band of Brothers", many of the men of "Easy" Company were interviewed. They still suffer from those cold, wet nights.
We have it made. I refuse to ever complain about cold.
My dad went to Wisconsin for winter training. They were going to Germany for the winter battles, typical Army, got orders to Burma and the Philippines. He got all shot up and almost died. Never talked about it and never complained until I came back from overseas. He would tell me about all his friends he lost and how lucky he was to make it back. To this day and he has been gone seven years he hated the Japanese. I remember one time we were watching Walter Cronkite "You were there" and the Bruma Road to China was on he said I was there.
Outstanding video. Wonder if videos like this were shown to our self possessed younger generation if it would make any difference. I doubt it.

Interesting history.
Very interesting. Enjoyed it. This was not talked about in history or indoctrination while in the Army. I was in the 1/506 Inf. of Bastogne fame. We learned about that for obvious reasons but not the POWs.
VERY WELL DONE. GREAT STORY
It affected a lot of people. One of my uncles received a battlefield promotion and a Purple Heart during this battle. One of my good friends lost her father there.
What a beautiful video of the best of people in the very worst of circumstances. This man's father was indeed a true hero and a righteous man. ALL of those men were heroes in my book. They had the will to survive when others would have given up and let death take over. God bless them all.
