Nowadays there are so many rules in public areas governing our behavior (don't touch this, don't climb on that, etc.), we have lost the ability to use common sense. If you treat people like children who need to be told what to do and what not to do, soon enough people act like children; they lose the ability to take responsibility for their actions as they learn to rely entirely on signs to inform them what is dangerous and what is safe, what is permitted and what is not.

Very well said.

On my 2016 trip to Yellowstone, a young man left the designated path, got too close to a pool of boiling acid water. He fell in and his body was completely dissolved. Many restrictions and regulations have a purpose.

The "Me Too" and "I'm Entitled" generation are due to poor parenting, and the brainwashing nonsense that is being taught in schools today.

It is not a single generation but rather true of all generations. Read the political pages of newspapers and you will see they are filled with "me first", "I'm entitled" exclamations of our political "leaders".

Fortunately their are groups that are working to save our environment and historical sites.

Get a picture of his face and turn it over to the park officials - along with a license plate if you can get it...

The rules and regulations governing behavior at places of interest, importance or both are not preventing people from developing common sense. They were put in place because far too many never learned about it or developed it on their own and still others just don’t care. As many have said, common sense isn’t very common.

Remember the guy who “jumped the barrier” at old faithful last year? Resulted in an idiot boil!

Great idea! That might work better than reporting the brat. Somehow, since this is BLM land, not National Park land, I have no confidence that reporting the trespass would make any impact. BLM is selling off so many leases in this area rich with archaelogical sites that I don't think they care.

Perhaps they should be encouraged to get closer to the bears. And the Hippos and Cape Buffalo.

Unfortunately, somebody would wind up shooting the bear....

Don't blame the schools or the teachers. If a teacher so much as says a cross word to little Johnny or Susie, mom and dad will be in the principals office early next morning wanting the teacher keel-hauled and fired right now. 'Cuz there little baby couldn't possibly do anything wrong...

At least in that case the bear can defend himself!
