I know there are numerous articles in these cameras comparing them... but I have both of those and take turns to use them..
May be it is just my impression but despite its higher weight and less pixels, Pentax K-S1 gives me more pleasure and better quality pictures.. it just feels so intuitive and more natural taking pictures with Pentax vs Sony.
I love Sony Alpha 6000 don't get me wrong but when I am in the mood for picture taking trip around my county I look at both cameras and grab Pentax and never regret my choice.
Is it just me or I am missing something in Sony Alpha 6000 ?

I am not familiar with either camera but in a general sense I think we all have certain feelings toward objects we use often. I have a favorite coffee mug because it just feels good in my hands. Cameras have certain shapes that we like more than other cameras we use. I know that Canon DSLR's are excellent cameras. But I like my Nikon cameras because they just feel better in my hands. To me Canon cameras feel squarish and boxy. Nothing against Canon and had I started out with Canon most likely I would still be with them.

My guess is the reason you choose the Pentax is because you like the pictures and it feels good to you.

You simply like the work and feel of the Pentax better than the Sony.
There's nothing wrong with your choice. Because of that, you will enjoy using the camera more.

I have a lot of different cameras. But try not to discriminate, I try to give them all equal face time.

I own use both cameras and find the Pentaxes to be more intuitive and natural. It's a little like comparing apples to oranges though. I love experimenting with and adapting older manual lenses on the mirrorless cameras. When I want to do serious work without having to think about the camera I prefer a DSLR. I grew up on SLR cameras so they are more intuitive to me. Others may have the opposite experience. As for megapixel numbers it's overrated to me. Dynamic range has long been the greatest issue since I shoot lots of landscapes. I like using older K mount legacy lenses on the Pentaxes and like the pentaprism viewfinder vs pentamirror on other cheap DSLR cameras. Cameras are just tools and I use the best one for the job. Battery life is also much better on DSLR cameras. After watching my retirement funds on the stock market rollercoaster I decided to cash much of it and rather than a motorhome or expensive motorcycle I started buying/selling/trading cameras. I always buy used and I've done much better than the stock market while having much more fun. I teach photography so knowing the workings and menus of different models helps immensely. I'm just an old guy living life to the max and sharing as much as possible. I tell students to quit worring so much about equipment, and start shooting what you love. Cheers!

I have the A6000 and a Canon 60D. I grab which ever one I am more comfortable with in any given situation. Bought the Sony to have with me all the time. Stays in car. However, I am much more comfortable with the 60D. Results? I am happy with pics out of both...............sometimes!

I have closet full of unworn shoes, shirts and pants. Every morning I grab old worn ones that I know will be comfortable rather than take a risk with the new ones.
Probably the same with cameras.

Not surprising. I’ve heard of many users switching from the a6000 series to something else because they didn’t gel with the shooting experience. I’ve also heard the opposite too. YMMV.

Couldn't that be said of any purchase at at any time since the beginning of time. Some will always like something while others will not like something. Everyone's mileage varies.

Just about three years ago, I purchased a Pentax K-30. Before that, I had tried an A6000 at Best Buy. My sense was that the Pretax camera has a more traditional set of knobs and buttons, while the Sony depended more on menus. The latter might be more comfortable for someone used to smart phones or other 'modern' products.

I prefer DSLRs, but at times, I'll bring the smaller A6000. The pictures I get with my D750 are better than what I get with the A6000, but maybe that's just my lack of experience with the Sony. Some day, I'll have to put both on Automatic and take a few dozen shots with each.

You can see what comparison sites say about them.

The recent Pentax line of DSLRs are excellent products, particularly the full-frame, K-1, and the advanced CMOS, KP, which surpasses just about any Nikon or Canon in its price range. So, I'm not surprised about your comment about the K-S1.

I have owned the A6000, A6300, and, now, the A6500. I am not wild about the controls--I prefer a front dial for aperture and a rear dial for shutter speed--however, I have adapted to the control options that are available, and I haven't found an alternative mirrorless APS-C that is as capable.

Not sure how this varies on the newer models but the a6000 menu under custom #6 has a choice for the Dial / Wheel Set up and you could easily switch aperture and shutter speed function there. I was a novice to the menus so I just went with the default set up. Many of these custom set ups were made available so those users experienced like yourself with a certain set up could continue using those arrangements.
Enjoy your camera. I may have to get the a6500 for the familiarity and many video features since i have grand children to look forward to shooting in the not too distant future and little people moving is so special I think.
