You can make them come true.

Today I received my zoom lens. Today I turned a childhood dream into reality at the ripe young age 61.

I have have had the same lens for almost five year; you will enjoy the considerably more reach than the kit 18-135.., but I think is a bit less sharp at the full 300 mm setting. I try to limit it to about 250-275 mm. Good luck with it!

Thank you! I'm looking forward to playing (learning) with it.

Was your dream about the same lenses and camera or about other lenses and camera? I ask because I am sure you were not a child anymore when those gears in the picture were introduced.

My dream was to have a professional style camera with an additional zoom lens. With it being a hobby I always saw it as cost prohibitive, especially during the film age. Thank you digital and ebay.

Yes! Got my first DSLR when in my 60s. I would have loved a Nikon, Canon, Pextax, or whatever back in the film days. Sometimes you make tough choices a long the way and do stuff like put yourself at the bottom of the list when the family revenue is allocated. Now, kids are gone and there is a little more money. This time it was a choice between a camera or a hearing aid. That's easy. I've heard everything my family wants to say, several times over, no need to pay much attention any more. I feel a GAS attack coming.

Nice to have dreams come true.
This is a great light weight lens for walking around for long periods.
ALL focal lengths including 300mm are sharp and very usable. At least this was my experience when I had it and later one of my kids felt they needed it more than me and wanted it for a birthday.
So use it and have lots of fun exploring your dreams with a great lens that gives you a new reach. If you do your part by holding steady and making sure you are in focus on what you want focused you will not be disappointed.
