That’s right guys, I’m looking for all those mirrorless cameras and haven’t seen one yet! I’m talking about serious cameras, not little toy 4/3’s!
I’m on assignment at Laguna Seca(bicycle races) and there are 250 official photographers here. Been here two days and haven’t seen a mirrorless yet. To be honest, haven’t seen a Nikon either!!! LoL
ALL Canons and mostly 70-200’s.
So where are all those mirrorless cameras? If you know where to find them, please let all of us that never see them, know!!!?
On Sunday I shoot the dual slalom event. It has the most photographers.
Maybe I’ll see one on Sunday? Maybe!?! I’ll cross my fingers and keep you posted! LoL

Last time I was at Laguna Seca was 1964. Did not see any mirrorless then either.

I was doing Basic Training and other training in the military. My MOS was Light and Heavy Truck and Equipment Training, and we used to race Jeep, Deuce N a Half, and 5 ton Trucks on the Laguna Seca race track. No spectators.... No camera's.

By the way...... Nothing "sissy" or "puss" about 4:3. Pro's are now using them, just apparently not for "bicycle" races. Now that's...........

They are coming not ready for the pros yet.
When they are pros will migrate to them as replacements won’t be a mad rush to switch they won’t take better photographs

It is an interesting observation that you knew EXACTLY how many OFFICIAL photographers were there isn't it? It was nice of them to be all in ONE SPOT so you could count them all.
Interesting that my two PROFESSIONAL FREELANCE FRIENDS were there once and observed just the opposite. In fact, they both emailed me and told me Nikon reps had one of their LEND LEASE trucks their and were doing a bang up job of fixing loaning and adjusting (as usual). NO Canon or Sony rep. available.
SO you observation brings up many questions on my part? Maybe you were looking at the armature section of photographers.
And yes, they observed many mirrorless Sony's with the 100-400 lens attached.
It is an interesting observation that you knew EXA... (show quote)

Bill, I think this is pick on Sharpshooter day...., God I love it!!! LoL
I know how many togs there are because the application process says that!
And just who IS, “they”, anyway?!?! LoL

They were at a more important pro event, instead of a bike race. You don't need a pro level Olympus EM1 Mark ll shooting 18 fps to shoot a bike race.

So what exactly do you need them for then??? LoL

You probably won't see them at sporting events. I don't think they are up to par with DSLR when it comes to action photos. What's the point of having a small mirrorless body when you are going to mount a huge 200mm or 70-200mm lens on it. Pointless. Also, the viewfinders are a little big lagging in real time. Too hard to photograph using the back of the LCD on moving subjects.

They are good for landscapes, and just about any kind of still.

They are also great for street photography. I could wear my Sony Nex-6 with the 16-50 lens around my neck all day, ready to take pics whenever. It took very good images with great color and dynamic range. I sold it and now want another camera to replace it, so am looking at the new Panasonics as well as the Sony 6300 or 6500. Nothing worse than missing a possible great shot because you didn't want to bring your camera gear for being too heavy.

I agree with Sharpshooter, (lol) I've been looking for someone that shoots with a mirrorless camera for a long time, (lol) or even a Nikon. (lol) This is very upsetting. (lol) One thing I've learned over the years...if you want to shoot projectiles, get a Canon. If you want to shoot beautiful photograph's, get a Nikon or mirrorless camera. Sharpshooter please...GET A LIFE! (lol)

And wait a few weeks until the several million Sony A7III's are delivered....they will be everywhere.

That's doubtful. Pretty much the same thing was said when the a7rII came out followed by the A9. I rarely see either of them. While the cameras themselves might seem ready for professionals and semi pros, they're still not as problem free as Nikon and Canon cameras. In addition, Sony's service centers and overall service approach is far from being ready for that level of shooter. Perhaps someday, but not yet. In the meantime Nikon and Canon shooters can rely on the robustness of their professional level full frame cameras in the field as well as the quality of service they will get it when they need it.

You only see the Canon's because they they are white.

Sony makes the f4 70-200mm G and the f2.8 70-200 GM and both those lenses are white. Sony/Minolta have other white lenses.
