Is this junk, or a neat ride?

Going through some folders from a few years ago and stumbled on this car that I photographed at the annual Teamsters Car Show. I thought the air breathers were somewhat unique. I can imagine this would turn heads driving down the street. So, what is it; neat or junk?

Neat. It is called a "Rat Rod". This one is a lot nicer than many that are built out of spare parts. Thanks for the pic. I missed this show and my dad used to be the secretary of the state's Teamsters.

Hey Bill. This was the last Teamsters car show. Lakewood City Government swooped in and started requiring a boat load of permits for the show, so they discontinued it.. Such a shame. I was a Teamster for 25 years, 14 of that as Shop Steward at Safeway, Trucking Department. Now retired and take pictures of most anything that hits my fancy at any particular time.
Thanks for looking!

I used to live, before the Stanley Lake high school was built, on 104th and Field, a small development call Mountain Gate. I loved it out there, and at that time hardly anyone around, mid to late 70's. Then moved to Grand Junction, which was another delight. I was born in Denver and then lived at 1st and Cody in Lakewood until I graduated from LHS. As a kid, we had rat rods and didn't even know there was a special name for them. Could not afford much of anything but an old junker.

Really, I owned a house at 89th & Field. Lived there 10 years, then moved to Broomfield. Small world.

So I see two air intakes (one on each side) Is that an in-line 6 or an old Lincoln Zepher V-12 engine? Sounds unlikely, but sort of looks like a ā€œVā€ from the angle of the shot, especially with a second carb/air intake on the other side.

I'm not sure what the power plant was. I was on my way out and just took a quick shot.

Nice one--not sure about the paper tubes, though. They look out of place to me.
