In answer to your question, those were some demo pens made by the teacher. The image below is the pen that I made; the finished pens are a nice size to hold in your hand and they write very smoothly. They were made using ordinary Bic pens. It was a fun project - I really enjoyed working with the clay, and the clay-covered pens can be baked in an ordinary oven.
I plan to make more (if I ever get to the crafts store and buy some polymer clay)
