A major "well done" on your images. Know of a red bearded archer, who was hunting deer, up in a tree in a breeze, just at dawn. Guess the beard resembled the tail of a fox squirrel. Any rate, when the Great Horned Owl struck the archer in the face, he was fortunate not to have any eye damage.
Horned owls are BIG birds. (Up to 25 inches long with up to a 57 inch wingspan.) In NJ we had a nest in our back yard. The boneyard under that tree was impressive. Several large rabbit heads and hindquarter bones indicating quite large and heavy prey were taken by those parents. These babies are about 24 inches in height - in a very big tree.
