Whatever name you end up giving your Golden you will so enjoy the companionship. I always have my 2 Goldens with me wherever I go.

I had a friend who named her dog ‘Dammit.’
She called her dog by saying, “Come here Dammit!”

As a dog owner,
Give the pup a name that you would not use in general conversations. If you name it “ NIKON “ every time you use the word the dog will think you are wanting it’s attention. No response of positive form from you will confuse the pup! Thanks for reading. Enjoy that fur face more than life itself! Niterider
PS send us lots of photos of it growing up and of photo shoots with it as main subject!

This is not a question about cameras or lenses per se. But I am asking for your- witty fellow UHHers' - suggestions. I am getting a female Golden Retriever puppy who will be my photo trip companion on my future treks out with my camera. We will be out there, in the great outdoors, shooting landscapes and Western Wandering Vistas together. I am trying to think of a photography-related appropriate name for her. I want it to be a short, simple, easy to say name, but not a generic "nikon" or "cannon" or such; nor any name that could be mispronounced- such as "focus." I'm sure there is something fun and witty, but can't think of any.
My daughter used to have an adopted three-legged dog I nick named "tripod." That was fun.
Any suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

The best names are connected to the animal's characteristics. One example was the three-legged dog named 'tripod'. Another example is our cat who has never learned to control her claws, so she tends to "stick" to everything .... we named her 'Velcro'.

I had a dog I used to call "DAMNIT" as well. Interesting to call him when you wanted him to come back. Not so much when there were children or "Church Ladies" around. Just Sayin'

I would name the Dog:
"Astro"(photography), that way you can mess with people when they do not get camera reference, that you got it from the Jetsons. Keep em guessing hehe. Good luck on choosing a name for your fur baby and future traveling companion.

Or Milky Way, as you can see I like night sky photography.

Goldens are wonderfull animals. Love yours as long as you can. I had to put down my baby boy "Bear" a year ago April 7th. I still haven't gotten over him. My eyes are welling up as I write this. Congratulations on the new addition to your family.
