These are Common Toads (Bufo bufo) during their annual spring spawning. These were taken in Dunsapie Loch, Holyrood Park right in the centre of Edinburgh.

Thanks for you input rwarnerjr. Ignore the frog spawn in the background of the second shot. They are spawning in the same area used by frogs a couple of weeks earlier. Take a close look at the last photograph, really zoom in. You will see that they are covered in warts. Also in the bottom right hand corner of that last shot you will see strings of black eggs. Frogs lay clumps of eggs. Toads lay their eggs in ling strings. These are toads.
