I built a screech owl nesting box in the backyard and shortly after I put it up I had an owl move in. we have had owls now for 4 years. there is a red phase eastern screech owl living there now

nice photos ... I always liked owls ... had a great horned owl fly past me as I was walking my dog one morning ... she missed us by a few feet and was completely silent ... even startled the dog. cool raptors!

Isn't it amazing how they blend in to their environment. Especially in a knot of a tree.

Great images, rstrick2 and I need to build some boxes designed for them also just in case; we have quite a few Barred owls but haven't seen any other species although I have heard some Great Horned owls calling a number of times!

Very nice, actually beautiful shots! Thank you for posting them.

Our home backs up to a conservation forest and I have seen Screech, a Barred Owls and a few that were heard but not seen. We have some song bird feeders which draw well, but now bird houses; I'd like to build a house for the smaller owls; could you post the size of your bird house, a picture and the size of the entrance hole?

Thank you.
