I was surprised to see this variety so far east. Here mate was seen earlier this morning but my camera was still in the bag. He had the purple throat that identified the species.
We had a male Black-chinned, but it was during the winter months several years ago. There are a number of western hummers that winter here on the coast. We have the ones that winter in our yard banded to record and document their migration, but we haven't had a western visitor in the past couple of years. Great shots of a tiny beauty, Ron.
