70-200 2.8 Ambient Light

I was shooting one day on the set of a short film to be produced at SCAD - Savannah College of Art and Design. I understand one of the best schools in the country. So, I decided to shoot with the Nikkor 70-200 2.8 that day. Brought only that lens, sb700 and Gary Fong and I'm out of room in my camera bag. I met some students making the film and was with the makeup artist - her pic in the mirror and last image. Other pic is of a young male actor. Saw my first Green Screen studio set up for film. Really neat. Had a chance to speak with students of photography and cinema about cameras and lenses. I'm old and they are young and yet the mutual respect existed. Fun! Let them hold my camera with the metal 70-200 2.8 and feel the weight (it's heavy). We talked about the Panasonic's camera video capabilities (apparently excellent-I recall the GH4). They spoke of the Nikon d5. It's great to share ideas which may be timeless and enjoy the passion of the genre. In the end, its about composition and lighting for the most part, with the best tools available to you at the time.

Nice images.

It's amazing, isn't it, when us old farts impress the kids, 'eh?

Saturday night, we were at a spoken word thing in Atwater, CA. One of the Presenters mentioned that they had seen this question on Facebook, and wanted us to participate.
What was the first live concert you attended.

There was a lot of Led Zepplin, Bruce, the Eagles reunion tour, etc.

I stood up, cleared my throat and said, "Beatles, Boston Gardins August 1964." Crickets......

Thanks and yes, the old farts smell less as I've heard lol. I do remember those bands quite well. Led Zep - Bring in on home, Stairway to Heaven (drinking beer on a Sunday at Fort Dix). Bruce - buying the "album" at a headshop in Alexandria, VA - Greetings from Asbury Park. I grew up very poor, parents never owned a home so I didn't see concerts earlier in life although grew up listening to music from age 5. First concert I saw, Carole King at the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Maryland. Now here is a story nobody will know more than likely. So, I'm stationed in Wash, DC and the Doobie Brothers come to Constitution Hall. Girlfriend buys me a ticket for my birthday which is in two weeks ironically. The opening act is getting boo'ed big time. So, he freaks out and starts talking to the crowd to stop the noise and let him finish. Tells everybody he is going to be a star someday. Never guess who was the opening act!!!!!!!!! Billy Joel. Funny eh?

Really nice - My daughter wanted to go to SCAD sooo bad (she got an acting scholarship from her high school and loved animation as well) but we told her that we were not going into debt to the tune of $40k a year for an art major (no offense to anyone out there that has done that ;) so she got her communications degree from Lipscomb Univ. She is very happy about it now that she has a great paying job but boy I wish we had all the money in the world to let her go there - what a great school!

Nice set! BTW, the President of SCAD was the highest paid college president in the US last year. Some bonuses kicked in.

I would not doubt it. I've heard how expensive it is to attend. Looking at the cost of housing in Downtown Savannah, it's very high. SCAD seems to have more property and involved in more of the culture than any university I've seen. However, being from Philly, there are so many schools there that nobody can really dominate. Just an FYI, Villanova won the NCAA finals. They are a small catholic university located in one of the most exclusive areas in the Philly suburbs. Cost to attend, with room and board, approx 65k per year.

You do not need to tell a Georgetown grad (law) about Villanova. LOL.

Crap! That is funny LOL. I used to live at 20th and F St, NW about 8 blocks from Georgetown. I remember that game too! I still have no idea how Villanova does it.
