multi-unit off camera flash set up for my D7000

First, let me say, I quickly read through a response to another post a week or two ago that would answer my question, but I didn't bookmark it and can't find it through search, so here goes the subject again.

I'm currently working on and learning off camera flash with using my D7000. Looking to invest in a system of multiple flashes, and possibly a controller. I know I can get Nikon speedlights and use the TTL system, but even used, those get expensive. And I'd like to work around the on-camera flash effecting the scene while it acts as the master. Any recommendations for a non-Nikon brand of lights and controllers?

Godox.
(Flashpoint brand at Adorama)
Radio controlled speedlights, monolights and something in-between: the AD200.
They have the most extensive line of flash products on the market.
They make manual units but I would go with the TT685 TTL because you can use the new transmitter which has a special TCM feature.
It allows you to shoot in TTL, then convert that power output to manual. (TCM= TTL Convert Manual)
Gets you really close on the first exposure.
The old transmitter works but is a bit cludgy to use.
There are several helpful FB pages dealing with Off Camera Flash as well.

And there is one specifically for the AD200 light: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2344893575649620/

The on-camera flash (the master) does not effect the image in any way!

Are you looking to stay with speed lights? If not you should look at the portable interfit S1 2 light kit. It's a portable studio kit that works on AC/DC battery, are TTL & HSS and comes with a backpack. I got mine and love them. You have to buy the trigger separately ($70) but that's because you have to match it with your system (Canon, Nikon, Sony) or a universal manual version. Here is a link...I got mine (sold by Adorama & fulfilled by Amazon) without all the extras for a little cheaper and bought the Interfit beauty dish and 42" octabox and love those also. I use PocketWizard Flex-TT5 units with my speedlights. They're a little pricey but extremely reliable.

I personally use Phottix wireless TTL trigger, Odin, for my Nikon flash units.

I second that, I have used TT5's on my old 580's for years and never had a failed shot. I was and still am extremely happy with them, their performance and reliability!
