p5 - Now that's what I call dense fog! Nicely done, Lorima.
Yes when the fog rolls in here, its like pea soup fog you can hardly see anything. Thank you.

Before I get too serious posting rain and fog...I did a little rain dance. Poor camera - didn't know where to focus.
Love that second shot...."I'm singing in the rain"...

Just liked how the little old house looked in the early morning fog!
Oh lovely, now this reminds me of our old farm house when we lived in Virginia.

We're thinking about a Viking river cruise; any suggestions?
We did the Budapest to Amsterdam trip in late May 2010 and had great weather with not too many tourists - I highly recommend it. We did the Zurich to Paris trip (some bus rides) last November but the weather was often overcast and some rain. It was a nice itinerary with great photo ops but would be better at a different time of year. Their trips fill up quickly, especially the veranda suites which you need to maximize your photo ops. If you have mobility issues, they are not very accommodating since they tend to dock at their own facilities and it can be a difficult walk even to their buses. We have done Oceania cruises that are much better in this regard.
Definitely take a nice long lens for shooting from the moving boat - I’ve used an 18-200 on a crop body (D300) and lately carried my P900.

1. Mount Rainier reveals her majestic presence as the fog clears just after sunrise. Shot from a scenic overlook on State Rte 12, west of White Pass.
2. and 3. Autumn ground fog dissipates quickly as the sun rises. Shot in raw so that I could manipulate the white balance to my whims (and whimsy)
Very interesting shots. I always love shots of Rainier, but the other two are almost mystical.

That's a sweet little place!
...this was taken from the saddle (well, I *might* have pulled over, lol) early morning in the Grapevine portion of I-5 in SoCal...last spring. I've since created a mounted/framed canvas from it..."Sentinels"
This topic is bursting with great fun, inspiration and talent! Particularly terrific for those interested in exploring what "moody" weather can bring to a photo. Many thanks to those who commented on my own, as well.

April showers are said to bring May flowers. We've had several showers but not much fog. How about you. Feel free to do the "Archive Dive' if you're not getting any rain. Fog can be tricky. Add "

Thank you so much, CDayton! This would be our first river cruise and we'll be going with another couple, so we're really looking forward to seeing some of the old townes....

Beautiful fog, Karin. Like the way you took several shots, different vantage point, of the warm reddish scene.
