Greetings, Hogs! I would like to hear from any who are using Luminar for post processing. For some time, I have used Graphic Converter and, to a lesser extent, ViewNX2 from Nikon. When I upgraded my Mac's operating system, Photo Studio popped up, but I can't say that I particularly like it. The other two seem limited in some respects and I would like to have amore powerful program, without getting Lightroom or PhotoShop. What experiences have you had with Luminar? Does it provide what you want/need in a post-processing program?

When Nikon discontinued my favorite software, Capture NX2, I knew I had to look for alternatives. I did not like their free software. My previous experience with Camera RAW was nothing to write home about.
Then comes Affinity Photo. I decided to try it not only for my Nikon files but also for my Olympus. I was never happy with the slow Olympus Viewer 3 that also lacked parameters that I considered important to edit their files.
Affinity is nicely doing what in my opinion was lacking with the other two softwares. I like what I see and although I am still learning it Affinity has become my favorite editor. I know Affinity is not Luminar but I thought that perhaps you could be interested in my opinion.

I use Luminar part of the time. It is not near as exhaustive as PS. But it’s pretty straightforward and simple. I particularly like its mono conversion features, if BW interests you. Again not as exhaustive for mono as Silver Efex but more simple. All in all I like it. Consider the free trial to see what you think. It won’t break the bank if you end up liking it.

I've been using Luminar and Aurora software for a few years. Lots of great presets make it easy, and lots of individual tweaks as well. It also has layers and masking.

Use the free version for a month and see how you like it. It's much more affordable than LR.

I've been using both Luminar and Aurora HDR 2018 for over a year now. I find both very intuitive to use, with a much easier learning curve. I've taught Photoshop and Lightroom for years and often end the sessions with some blearly eyed students who didn't put the work in. I now teach Luminar and Aurora HDR 2018 and have much better results.

Looking forward to their Digital Asset Manager release, then it will give Adobe a serious run.

You're welcome to use my Discount code on both products, the Code is "TidelandsPhoto".

Luminar is a great program, and I'm glad its finally available for Windows. The initial release had some bugs which have been ironed out. It operates as a plug-in or standalone program. and can be as simple or complex as you would like it. The presets can give you a one step immediate improvement in your images, and the use of filters, masks and layers are also available as your familiarity with the program grows. Definitely try the free trial, and use one of the members' codes to get $10 off if you like it.

For Luminar, if you are a veteran, reserve or active, email them with proof (like a DD214 copy) and you receive a coupon code good for 30% off, 50% off if you buy Luminar and Aurora HDR at the same time, i.e. $84 for both. Good deal. You have to hunt a little, but the info is available on their website.

I've been using the Windows version and as everyone says, it's easy to use but it still crashes once in a while.

I use Luminar and Aurora HDR on a Mac and have no complaints about either one of them. Maybe not as robust as PS but pretty sure it good give LR a run for its money (except for the Digital Management feature) and is more than enough for my needs. Plenty of good youtube tutorial videos available - try the Jim Nix channel.

I have Luminar for Windows and Adobe classic CC plus Photoshop. After buying a book on using LR with RAW and using some techniques that allow a fairly rapid post processing protocol, I do find some of the Luminar attributes helpful. I can tell you, their removal tool is fantastic much better that LR's. Of course there is always Photoshop, but for quick fixes Luminar is great. I still need to do more work using Luminar to be able to give a more comprehensive opinion.

I use LR for virtually all my photos and I only use Luminar if a photo really needs something special. The reason I do not use it more is because one has to open one photo, edit it, then save it. Going one by one like this is just too time consuming for me.
