Faststone is an Image Viewer, not an Image Editor. The "editing" functions are rudimentary at best. Try ACDSee Pro instead.

Click on the colors button in the upper left menu, then click on adjust colors. This is as close as it comes to doing what you want.

Not easily. Better off shooting raw and adjusting in a raw converter. Next best scenario would be to use the camera raw filter in photoshop. Other programs may do this with more or less ease.

What kind of camera is he using? He should have, or be able to download, free image editing software from the manufacturer that will do it. Alo, if his camera supports RAW he will have complete control over white balance... not so much with JPG.

That was my first thought, too.

Some cameras come with software that offers much more adjustability than Faststone.

Just for example, Canon provides Digital Photo Pro free on a disk with their DSLRs.... that's a RAW converter with a great deal of flexibility to change white balance.

Working with JPEGs, if that's what your friend is shooting, there's less latitude to make adjustments... but still some.

dick ,thanks for your advice as my friend has a canon t6 which has the ability to adjust white balance. I will tell him about the free editing software that comes with the canon kit and he can change the wb as needed.
