I was at a friend's in Buffalo and caught this fellow pulling out logs with a pair of horses. They were a little out of range for my camera...but I thought you might enjoy them anyway😊

Well documented. Enjoyed your pictures.
Great shots! (I'm still betting he's Amish.)
Very nice. Tells a story. vz
Interesting post. Good job.

I agree, nice photos. A lot of people still use horses for hauling logs in the woods. Horses can easily get to places a tractor can't. Horses do little to no damage to the forest floor. Horses don't make a lot of noise. Horses are easier to maneuver in the woods than a tractor. Horses rarely break down.
As for him being Amish, no, unless he's from a very liberal sect like the Beachy. Traditional Amish don't wear blue jeans or a blue jacket or a knit cap. Even in the fields they wear black pants with a white shirt and black vest and black jacket. The man looks to be in his 20's and most Amish men would have married by that age. This fella has no beard. The rigging on the horse is way to ornate for Amish rigging.
How do I know these things? I watch a lot of educational documentary type shows on TV and I spend a lot of time in Amish country.

Thank you so much Erik...I really appreciate that...really glad you liked them!
When you find a technique that works and has worked for a few thousand years, why bother changing simply because modern mechanized technology has made it easier and more efficient, lol?
Excellent shots, Jan!
