wireless remote controller WR-1

Does anyone use the wireless remote controller WR-1 with a Nikon D500? So many of the inexpensive remote controllers listed on Amazon and elsewhere include lists of the camera models that they work with, but the inexpensive ones don't include the D500. I was wondering if that was because those units were first offered for sale prior to the release of the D500 and have simply not been updated yet, or if those controllers really don't work with that model. Advice is welcome. Thanks.

I use the WR-1 with my D850. I suspect the lesser remotes do not have a 10-pin connector, but rather, the more universal micro USB connector.

Check with your camera store . . . I got one for my D500 for about 30 bucks, brand name is Pixel Oppilas and has the 10 pin connector. Works quite well and has single, burst, bulb, and timer modes. I have been very pleased with it . . . .

A few features of the Wr-1 might go beyond what the cheaper ones do, and beyond what many are looking for.

"The WR-1 also can access up to four groups (A, B, C, D), to further separate out groups of cameras that need to be controlled independently and simultaneously.

Useful for triggering the shutter remotely when using slower shutter speeds (up to 60 minutes) for long exposure photography, to prevent camera movement as well as when shooting interval timer photography.

Range (line of sight) from a WR-1 to another WR-1 is approx. 394 ft.

Have you checked out the Nikon WR-R10/WR-T10/WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter Set? It works great on my D500 and I can control my SB5000 speedlight with it.

If the WR-1 works with other Nikons, those generic remotes should work, too.

The Nikon D500 uses a fairly standard (for Nikon) 10 pin connector. Any wireless remote that will work with that should work with the D500. The WR-1 is a very expensive way to go if seeking ONLY wireless release. I would check out the WR set listed just above. I use that set with my D500 for both camera and flash control (SB-5000 ONLY!). Best of luck.
