I quit listening to radio in the early nineties due to the repetition, radio stations around here play the same tunes every day with a few variations and it got to the point where I felt like I had heard them all ,like 250,000 times. When I was still employed I could set my watch by what was playing at any given time of day.
I've heard other radio stations and they all did the same thing. Does anyone else feel the same way or do the stations in your area actually play a wide variety of music? Just curious.
All ours play 10 minutes of music and 20 minutes of commercials! I don't listen to any of them any more. Totally unlistenable.
Yea, seems like a 24 hour repeat. They should do 18 or 30?
(I've been listening to XM in the car for the past couple of years.)
Something pretty neat I ran across last year was the Bose sound touch system. They come in three sizes and they connect to your wifi and you can get stations from all over the world and just about any genre. I have the biggest version and two of the smaller versions that can be synched together for an almost stereo sound.
Few if any commercials!!!!!!
As for the over the air AM and Fm, who can stand them anymore commercial after commercial then repeat.
I listen to NPR's classical station. No commercials. Also my cable TV has about 20+ music stations with various music genres. Music 24/7/365.

Try internet radio....most are so small that they get little 'comercial' pressure.
Our local radio gets its music from the 'lending library'....a definite limit as to how many they can borrow. It repeats more often than The BBC !!!
My wife loves music so much she has 27 days of continuous playing 'downloaded' on the PC. Never the same music unless it was recorded by another artist ..... AND it takes up less space than photographs!!
Try the junk shops... CD's have never been so cheap! A PC can have whatever quality of sound you want to invest in.
Have fun

NPR (National Public Radio) - publically supported so no commercials other than an occasional mention of corporate sponsers. You’ll find the Public Radio stations at the low end of your FM dial. Alternately, consider streaming stations via the internet. There are many hundreds of stations online with almost any music or other specialty you can imagine. University stations are some of the more interesting - often no commercials or repetition. Or for some really interesting radio and a different perspective on world events and culture, get a shortwave receiver, hang up a wire antenna, and listen to foreign broadcasts (in English) - fascinating. Radio is alive and well.

I agree. I now listen to audiobooks when driving via bluetooth from my phone and when cutting pasture and when working in yard. If I want music I also listen to my iTunes same way.
I use Pandora and set my own music/groups I want to listen to. Try their free version and if you like it move up to the $4/month for no ads.

Commercial radio is awful. I quit listening to it years ago.
I listen to NPR in the morning for news. Then for music I listen to RadioParadise.com
RP is excellent. I hear new music all the time and it’s commercial free and listener supported.
You can upload photos that can be displayed too. It’s fun seeing some of mine scroll by at times.

that's why we listen to 3 different country station on Sirius
I got hooked on talk radio. It used to be the sports talk station, but now its politics. The sports talk got old; trades would be discussed endlessly, as would other topics. The political stuff is far more interesting. If I want music I listen to my Ipod.
I agree if I am not in the vehicle than I usually don't listen to the radio. Same old songs over and over.

My wife listens to NPR. They have commercials; they just call them “underwriters” and beg for money all the time. I don’t see much difference in that and commercial radio.
I listen to satellite radio when I’m driving--I think it’s worth the subscription price.
