This was taken four years ago at a D-Day commemoration event. I have posted shots from the event previously.
I'm interested to know what you think of the processing - does it suit the subject? Your thoughts and time are appreciated.

In my opinion the pp suits the subject beautifully. I feel like you've captured a moment from history, not a re-creation. I like the men centered in the frame, seeming to be in serious discussion. You were at a good angle to show most of the propellers and the rest of the plane's lines really well.

Thanks Linda, that’s what I wanted to know. It was such a crisp, bright shot and I wanted to get it toned down enough to make it seem more authentic time wise. I used a paper filter and split toning in the main.

I love processing when it creates a vintage look to a modern digital image. Great job.

I think the PP is spot on. I personally can not find anything to nit pic on this shot. Well done

Thank you Frank, it seems to be meeting with approval generally - my concern was whether it ended-up too monotonous as there’s quite a dark block across the lower half of the frame.

All it needs is a caption for a Biggles yarn.

Good idea RG - and there were plenty of characters at the event who would have loved to be part of a Biggles tale!

It gave me a strong sense of traveling back in time, like I was there! Excellent.

I like it a lot. You really nailed the pp. I recently watched a documentary about some fellows who salvaged a Spitfire from a beach in France. They then used what they could, and rebuilt the rest to make an actual plane that was certified for flight. Guy Martin, who is better known as a motorcycle madman on the Isle of Man, was the host and did a lot of the work with the team of restorers. It was fascinating. Is this a photo of a Spitfire? Don't know my planes very well. I'm pretty sure that , if this photo were mine, I would print it, frame it and hang it. I think it is very good.

Yes, it’s a Spit but don’t ask me which Mark - there were umpteen of them. I had a friend older than myself and no longer with us who’s claim to fame was calculating that snipping off the wing tips was an improvement (can’t remember what it improved, but the modification was the basis for yet another mark). I told him it was his worst days work as it spoiled the look of the thing altogether!
Guy Martin’s the fellow with the big sideburns I think? Great rider and an engaging TV presenter.
Glad you like my effort. I will try printing it.

Hi Dave

Yes, I too like the photo. Thanks for sharing.

Just to say that Guy Martin is the fellow with the big sideburns. I have sat through many of his mad moments, as my partner John still rides a motorbike occasionally and watch anything to do with bikes.

Have a good day.

Heather
