Had a first time visit from this guy. Not sure when he moved into the neighborhood, but glad to see him. The fox squirrels usually have black heads but rare to see one all black.

I have never seen a squirrel drinking. That in itself seems pretty unusual.

I live in lower Connecticut, and there are some isolated areas in Greenwich where black squirrels seem to flourish. All black. I had never seen one before living here. Its always been a particular curiosity to me.

Yup, we had black squirrels up in NY, too, but this one is a fox squirrel indigenous to the south, I believe. Much larger than the grays and reds, also calmer and quite fun to watch. Normally they look more brown, like this.
