As I was doing some post production work on this photo, I accidentally cropped it and saved it in the second photo's size. After looking at the photo both ways I was unable to decide which crop I liked the best. The first (original) shows off the rider and the horse's faces while the "accident" focuses in on the rider only. Most of the time whichever the viewer sees FIRST, they will go with that one. Having said that, will it influence you or not?! Which way do you prefer? Each of these are best viewed in download mode.

I like the first one better than the second one. I think the horse is an important part of the picture.

Hello Brent both photos are very nice but my choice on the crop is #1 thanks for posting saying hello from Pittsburgh.

I really like the way #2 focus on the detail in the horse's musculature, but overall, #1 is a better image.
I prefer the first one but isn't it interesting the debate in one's own head when you start cropping?
#1 by leaps and bounds, Brent!

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with keeping and presenting both. Let the buyer decide, who knows, they may like and purchase both.
Definitely the first one.
#1 tells a better story than #2

Brent, I would also agree that #1 is best. I think that one is absolutely the best composition.
I like them both but #1 is the best. Great shot by the way
#1
Showjumping is about horse and rider. #2 misses the point. If you had to crop it at all I would crop off some of the bottom to turn into a landscape format with space for the horse to jump into. Square format is very static.
Great shot by the way.
