When trying to open Topaz Labs software, the program will not run because it states I need OPEN GL 2 or larger installed. Does anyone have a link for a SAFE (preferably free) download?

Thank you in advance.

You can’t download hardware... As I understand it, you need a graphics card/chip that supports the code. Then you need the drivers.

That seems to be a Video Driver. What version of Windows are you using? When have you updated your drivers from your computer manufacturer's Web site (usually happens automatically from time to time)? OPEN GL 2 may be from as far back as Windows XP! Odd that would be even out of date. I think they are up to OPEN GL 4.+.

Try Microsoft, your video card manufacturer's site, or if say you have a Dell PC Dell, or HP PC HP, etc.

I think this link explains that it is part of the graphics driver that you would get from Intel, NVIDIA, etc.

Update your system video card drivers. If your video card is capable of running OPEN GL, it should happen with driver updates.

How old is your machine? Do you know what kind of video card you're using? Some onboard video cards (as opposed to dedicated cards from third-party manufacturers like Nvidia) in some machines have poor support for Open GL. On the other hand, it may just be that you need an updated video driver as others have suggested. Are you knowledgeable and/or comfortable with doing those types of updates?

MWSilvers, thank you for your response. I have a Toshiba Satellite P775-S7100 laptop which I am guessing is at least 5 years old, maybe older. I am running Windows 10. I am not knowledgeable about updating video drivers.

Then this is probably not something you will be comfortable doing yourself. Perhaps you have a friend or a business associate who is more computer savvy. The drivers themselves are free, but if you need to bring your laptop into a computer shop to have them download the new driver for you, they will charge you.

I did a little checking and while it was not entirely clear it appears that your video card may support Open GL 2.1. Therefore, you should try to get the latest video driver since they're free. If that still doesn't work, then you are probably out of luck. Even though your machine may support Open GL 2, there are still occasionally compatibility issues with software.

Did you read her first post? It won't run on her machine due to an Open GL issue. And while a copy of Picasa 3 might meet her requirements, her question was about how to get Topaz to run on her machine.
