You will find good filters among Breakthrough, Tiffen, and B+W. Each Brand has their high end and low end prices. You pay extra for glass coatings and hardness of the glass. Since I don't use polarizing filters that much. I refuse to pay in the hundreds of dollars for them. I own a cheap Tiffen. No high expectations of performance. But, better than not having one.

And how did they get the name so they could charge more?

Answer, by making great cameras... not by making filters, flashes, or bags with Canon name on them.

mas24 above, expresses my philosophy. Same with many "I gotta haves" how often and will the difference really be noticed except in a 200x examination. Some issues are questionably real and provable by math but in reality are sales items hype... eg. "point of confusion" ... indeed.

With CPF, "oh, look the whites have a blue tint" ya, well correct it like you always do. Optical glass vs float glass...yep real issue 30 years ago, but not much now.

For that lens, you need an uncompromising filter. I've ruined a great lens with a cheap polarizer. My preferred brand in Breakthrough.

If, for some strange reason, I did not want to buy Breakthrough, my other choice would be B+W.
