Yes apparently Aftershot Pro 3 works as a plug-in to Photoshop CC and visa versa sending files back and forth as TIFF files. I don't use Lightroom anymore so I can't comment on that. In Photoshop CC I use Bridge as a file management tool (very simple DAM system much like what is offered in Aftershot). As a stand alone application Aftershot has some simple features, however for technology features that comes 95% close to Photoshop CC and for $50 Affinity Photo can't be beat (it does have a steep learning curve, but there are plenty of videos for free training and they have a book to help you learn).

Bruce, I wasn’t aware that Aftershot Pro 3 worked as a plugin! I don’t know why it would work as a plugin for photoshop? The application is more similar to Adobe Lightroom, which I wouldn’t consider it as a plugin either, but in my opinion LR does works better. (After thought.) By plugin do you mean that after doing some development work you can send the photo off to PhotoShop and back again? I suppose so I just never thought of it as a plugin, ha, ha my bad🤗

I use Lightroom 6.12 and Affinity Photo, also stilluse NIK plugins and using Luminar more and more. I just got into a work flow with Lightroom, and NIK. Use Affinity when i need to use layers a masks and for changing backgrounds, and for inpainting. That tool works really well! I have an older MacBook Pro (early 2011) with a full 4 core intel processor (quad core) I’ve replaced the hard drive with a crucial 1tb ssd and crucial 16 gigs ram. Use an Apple Thunder Bolt display. I have several very expensive audio editors on this machine so I do not desire to deal with continous updates and upgrades. (Too expensive and for no good reason because they don’t do any more nor do it any better than the ones I have already have on there, and that includes photo editors). This machines renders incredibly fast. So untill it quits I’m leaving everything as is.

You use good tools that work for you and I can't blame you on the updates, why chance having an update break something that is working. Editing tools are really a personal choice and it comes down to what will work for each individual and how much do they want to put into the effort (both money and education). From the initial question the OP posed he received many replies that probably confused him more as everyone has their own personal preference and experience.

I agree with you Bruce, and thank you for your replies. I also apologize for any misunderstang concerning the Corel software, they do make it some what confusing especially with the similar names of their various software products.

Hi Thorny,
I too am an Elements user and am looking for another PP program. In the interval I downloaded Microsoft's ICE for Panorama stitching. It is free, fast and quite simple but very good. Give it a whirl.
Good luck.

Hey, no problem Jerry, I am not right all the time (just opinionated) and don't mind being called out on it. When proven wrong that I can understand I can change my views.

Without breaking my bank account, can you tell me what is a good photo enhancing software? I'm not new at taking photos but still have a LOT to learn. I really don't want to sit in front of my PC all day everyday learning - so pleease do not send me don't that rabbit hole. Someone is pushing me to get LightRoom Classic cc.??? Oh, I looked at some ratings and to me it's like shooting fish in a barrel. If I shoot I bound to hit one. So many to choose from - IT's confusing! HULP! THX

Oneshot, are you looking for a program that can also mange your photos and keep them organized? I use Lightroom (LR) because it can keep my photos organized and easily searchable. You can get started and just learn the basics until you want to improve your work. There are several good U-Tube videos that will help you. The best part is they are free. Scott Kelby and Martin Evening have some great books and they are rather easy to read. It cost only $9.99 per month. Any updates that come down, you get automatically. Keep in mind, most software comes with a 30 day trial period.

tnste,
"The biggest downside, though, to this photo editor is the lack of an organizing system. You can browse through image files on your computer, but there isn't an advanced image search function or a ranking system, which means you'll spend more time trying to track down a specific image with this software than other photo editing applications."

This is from an on line review of Affinity software. When I currently download images to my computer, they can always be found in both Picasa and Elements 13. Does the quote above mean that finding my image folders in Affinity is a hassel?

Thanks,

Thank you Photodoc16. I have downloaded MS ICE on my laptop. Whilst I have had some success I have occasionally found horizon alignment errors. I am still working on my panorama image capture technique and will persevere for a while longer before I decide whether to keep it or not.

For pans you really need a tripod unless you are super steady..... I'm not.

When I travel by road I always carry my tripod and panning accessories, but not when I fly. Sometimes I practice shooting hand-held panoramas even when carrying the tripod in the hope that I will improve my hand-held technique for those times when I don't have a tripod available.

I have found that Photoshop CC and Photoshop Elements do an excellent job of stitching my hand-held panoramas, which normal consist of 4-5 images.
