I'm planning a 10 -14 day photography trip to Nova Scotia (landscapes) this year and, besides Peggy's Cove, would be interested to know from those who have been there, 1) when you think is the best time of year to go, and 2) the location where your best seaside photo's were taken. I'm already searching the internet for information and recently visited AAA for information, but feedback from those who have spent time there is probably the best source of information. Any information you care to share about your photo experience would be appreciated. Thanks

As crazydaddio mentioned, the Cabot Trail. That's a must. All of CBI, north and east coast of PEI. And while Peggy's Cove is great, spend as much time as you can a mile or so outside the harbor/lighthouse area. Glacial erratics, weather-worn cedars and yew trees, the ocean, the whole shebang. Best time to go is off-season; March/November (friendly people are friendlier, rates are less expensive, etc.), but any time will certainly do. Brush up on your French. And explore dirt roads when possible.

Lunenbourg is a must as well. Mahone Bay is lovely too. If you do Cape Breton Isalnd as others suggested, stop off at Fort Loiusburg for at least half a day. The Citadel in Halifax as well as the Old Cemetery there are fascinating places. Many Titanic victims are buried there.
If you're driving to/from, be sure to stop at Hopewell Rocks across the bay in New Brunswick.

Bay of Fundy. Check the tide schedules. Twice a day, if you go when tides are during the day.

We were there in Sept for 11 days. It rained the first 5 days and then it rained the last 6 days. As far as Peggy's Cove, if you go Go Very early. Depending on how many cruise ships are in Halifax the day you are there, you will be met with HOARDS of tourists at the cove with very little space for them. It's not a big area. As mentioned before, Hopewell Rocks AKA The Flower Pots, is a really interesting stop. Have a safe trip!

I thought I'd be going there, so I asked for information here. Unfortunately, the trip never took place. Below is the information I got.

We also found the new high speed ferry to have unfavorable hours, so we flew from NJ to NS and then rented a car. It was a VERY scenic trip with the highlight being the Cabot Trail. Glorious sunset at Peggy's Cove was stunning. We also combined NS with a trip to PEI which was also gorgeous. Enjoy!!!

Yep, Lunenbourg, Mahone Bay and Peggy's Cove are pretty much "the Big 3" for NS. Don't miss them. For your "seaside photos", I'd also recommend Baddeck Bay:

Lunenburg and the Museum, definitely. Blue Rocks just to the east of Lunenburg is an uncrowded alternative to Peggy's Cove which can be overrun. Just no lighthouse.

The bore tide running up the river just south of Truro is interesting if you have never seen a bore tide. Not great photo op, tho.

The Alexander Graham Bell Museum In Baddeck will dazzle you with all the things the man was into.

Whale watching out of East Ferry, Tiverton in the west...in the warm months.

Louisbourg is mandatory.

We were fortunate to have no rain and mostly sunny days in September 2016.

All of the above places mentioned (a month would be needed to adequately enjoy them all). My favourite, though, is the Atlantic coast (east shore) from Halifax to Cape Breton on the coastal roads. If you go to the Cabot Trail, go clock-wise so that you are on the inside. Once there, you will understand.
