A Fast Method of Transferring your Photographs

When on a shoot my photos are transferred to my phone as they are taken, when I transfer them to my PC I can use a USB cable or an app called Photo Sync (https://www.photosync-app.com/Downloads.html)
Recently I discovered another way of performing this operation, "ScanTransfer" it's very fast and will transfer 50 photos in under ten seconds.

Give it a try: https://scantransfer.net

How does that work out for a shoot with 680 raw files over 6 hours?

Don,
I am not certain about that amount and size of files, what would take time is selecting that number of files to transfer. I just tried it out on 20 jpegs I took yesterday and that took about 5 secs, but as I said selecting the photos took me about 12 seconds, so that came to 17 seconds in total.

And no quality is lost? Works for RAW too?

I have yet to find a way to get raw files off an iPad or iPhone, while they may be on the iPhone / iPad as a raw, what I always am able to get back to the computer has always been a JPG. It would be nice to be able to send a raw from camera to iPad/iPhone quickly, and to be able to then get a raw back from the iPhone/iPad to the computer quickly.

Of course when talking raw files transferring to a phone/tablet - gotta think about lots of memory for storage.

Doesn't Dropbox keep the same format as original? Maybe other such apps, too.

Also, Airdrop (on a Mac) works instantly when both devices are on the same Wifi. Works for any file -- I'm pretty sure.

Have not tried with Dropbox, but suspect it is how the iDevice is programmed to transfer, will give dropbox and airdrop a try as well.

FWIW - Transferred a CR2 raw shot from Canon 80D to iPhone over wifi, shows as a CR2 raw file on the iPhone, transferred to computer using Airdrop, ends up a JPG on the computer. Suspect that Dropbox will be the same. I am thinking it really comes down to the phone/tablet is only programmed to convert to JPG and send.

Also, another way, you can zip raw files together at the source, use Dropbox with the zip file, and unzip at the destination. I've done that. (That is, of course, if you can unzip at the destination.)

As well, if you want to keep duplicates at the source and destination, using the zip method avoids having to make duplicates at the source before sending to Dropbox. That's because (on the Mac) zipping a few files will produce a zip file and leave the originals alone.
