Ice crystals

Today I was emptying out our old chest style deep freezer that we haven't used in years, but is still plugged in and has very OLD frozen food in it. I pulled off a box lid and it was lined with huge, interestingly shaped ice crystals! It makes sense that I got excited about these ice crystals because I love rocks with crystals and actually have a collection of geodes!

I took a few very fast snapshots of these ice crystals ... I am sharing because I thought the large square shaped crystals are so unique. Please overlook the fact that I didn't take time to compose or do anything fancy to these shots!

Hope you find them as 'cool' as I did!! Thanks for viewing!

They are cool. There is also nothing wrong with just being a bit fascinated by things we find interesting and photographing them for the sake of what they are, and not trying to create art with each photograph.

Neat, but the depth of field is really narrow.

Thank you, Sue. That is exactly what these snapshots are ... Just a way to capture something interesting! If I had already purchased a Nifty Fifty lens, then the images taken would have been better and I would have tried harder. But I had my zoom lens on and the crystals were in a cardboard box lid. I am amazed that I was even able to get the actual crystal shape!! Thanks for your kind words - again :)

Yes longshadow, I know the DOF is narrow .... Just quick snapshots. As your sign off quote states "maybe he just liked what he saw". These snaps are exactly that :) Thanks for taking time to comment!

Everyone has things that strike their eye. Some might not see it the same way though.
I have images that I like, but not everyone agrees. But I still like them.
(My photography is for me (and my wife) and that's what counts.)

Not square, actually hexagons, like snowflakes.

Christy, these are awesome! I applaud the fact that your "eye" caught the beauty of something that was headed to the trash, or sink, or wherever. Point is, we're surrounded everyday by simple things that all have their own unique "beauty," and you were able to "see" and capture it. Well done.
